if you've been holding off for a good deal on a canon rebel DSLR, TODAY my friend. today is the day to pull the trigger.
right now you can get the canon t3 for $349.99ย (reg $450), the canon t5 for $479 (reg $550), or the canon t5i for $699 (reg $850). these prices beat amazon by about $50 for each camera, so this seriously is THE best deal out there right now.
i own the canon t3i (not included in this sale) but it's almost identical to the t3, with the exception of a couple small bells and whistles like the screen doesn't swivel out on the t3. i chose a canon rebel after asking 3 professional photographers which DSLR they would recommend and they all unanimously said a canon rebel. at the time, the t3i was the best bang for my buck but this is for sure a way better deal!
also, if you're looking for more than just your kit lens (which is awesome, don't get me wrong), my favorite lens is the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens. it will allow you to get that super blurry background with the subject in focus, like the picture below. it will work with any canon rebel.
if you have any questions please let me know in the comments below! ๐
I’ve been saving my pretty penny’s for a nice camera! Excited to see this sale and your stamp of approval! So now the question is which one to get! So if you could pick which one would you buy? I’m sure the 3rd one is probably the nicest as it’s the most $!
hey katie! so, it’s always nice to get the newest technology when you can, and that would be the t5 or t5i. that’s the newest one on the market. the “i” is going to give you a few more bells & whistles. having said that, the t3 is an amazing camera that i’ve used several times and noticed zero difference in the quality of photos between a t3 and t3i. if you’re on a tight budget that’s an amazing camera! if not, i for sure say go for the t5 or t5i because you’ll never regret having the newest version when you can. hope that helps ๐
Been waiting for a deal on this camera! YAY! YAY! YAY! Thanks Corriney!
yay you’re so welcome!! ๐
Hi! I had my heart set on the t3i but the t5i is just as great! How does a person go about purchasing through here & will they be available on the first? Thank you xx
hey vanessa! just click on the link and it will take you right to the sale. it only goes through the 27th though, or if it sells out sooner.
I am buying this to shoot my models for my brand new online clothing store! I can’t believe this is such a crazy deal! I am so happy I found your instagram because I almost paid $949 at best buy the other day! WOW! I think it was ‘mint’ to be! lol!
Anyways, thank you for finding these amazing deals. Saving money in any way when starting up a business is key!
xoxo

i’m so glad shelbi! and i totally agree – save where ever you can, it helps so much! ๐
Does a lens come with the t5i?? In the description of the t5 it says “lens included” but does not say that with the t5i.
hey stephany, totally valid question. i looked very carefully and i’m 95% sure it does because it’s listed for the same retail price as this amazon listing for $850 retail: http://amzn.to/1nC8wxW but i am on hold with customer service to verify that it WILL come with the lens and will update this comment as soon as i’ve verified!
verified with customer service: YES it comes with the lens as pictured! ๐
Awesome, thank you so much for getting back to me so quickly! Cant wait to purchase my new cannon! Love your blog, keep up the good work!!! xo
aw thanks!! enjoy your new camera!
What would be your recommendation on deciding between the t3 and the t5? What are the main differences?
hey kristyn, the t3 is an older version of the t5, so they are super similar but you’ll get the newer version with the t5. also, the t5 is a higher megapixel camera (18.5MP) versus the t3 (12.1MP). but their ISO sensitivity is the same – meaning how clear of a photo you can get in dim light. if you can afford the newer one – the t5, i definitely say go for it because it’s always better to have the newest technology! but if you’re on a tight budget, the t3 is an AWESOME camera and almost identical to the one i use – the t3i. the flower photo shot here was taken with the t3i and its megapixels and quality are the exact same as the t3. the “i” is just for tiny bells and whistles like a camera screen that swivels out, kind of like having cloth or leather seats. same engine, same functionality. i hope that helps! feel free to ask more questions! ๐
hi corrine,
3 questions: 1. Is the lens you recommended to make the background blurry compatible with any dslr camera or only cannon rebels? 2. is there any way to make the background blurry with just the standard lens? 3. have you ever seen specials or sales on this lens?
hey caitlin! so, to be totally honest i’m not a professional photographer! if i understand correctly, the canon lenses are for canon cameras so if you own a different type of DSLR (nikon for example) you should look into that brand of lens. you could call a local camera store and ask though! 2 – yes you can definitely still get a blurry background with the kit lens on almost any DSLR by adjusting the aperture. the lower the F stop number, the more blurry your background will be. with that lens you’ll be able to get a way more blurry background, versus a kit lens that will only let you go down so far with the F stop.
3 – i’ve watched and really not seen much of a price drop ever on this lens. but if/when it happens i’ll definitely post about it! ๐
hope that helps!!
I’ve been waiting to purchase the T5i and when I saw this price, I jumped on it! Thanks girl for the update ๐
you’re so welcome!
