Last minute Easter basket faves that still ship in time!

Can you believe Easter is just a few days away?! I love Easter so much because I love what it represents to me, but also that it’s a time for family and traditions. A month ago I shared what I like to include in my kids’ Easter baskets, but if you’re a Procrastination Queen like I typically am, don’t sweat! Today I’m sharing what I typically fill our Easter baskets up with, along with some other cute ideas you can still get last minute!

A note on traditions

One of our Easter traditions is always going to church on Easter Sunday. This year, our church will be having general conference on Easter Sunday, a tradition that only coincides perfectly with Easter Sunday every few years and I’m always so thrilled when it does! If you’re looking for a good virtual Sunday service to attend this coming Easter, ours will be filled with uplifting messages about Jesus Christ and EVERYONE is invited! Last year during Covid, I shared my thoughts about dressing up and celebrating Easter, and I was delighted to also be featured in a little write-up in the Wall Street Journal about how our family still celebrated Easter with an at-home church service, Easter outfits, my mom’s most wonderful cherry jello in the world, and by focusing on the resurrection of Jesus Christ as the real reason for Easter. If your church is still closed, I hope you are able to still keep your traditions while being at home!

Easter baskets

While I am a firm believer that a little candy (especially Cadbury Mini Eggs!) can’t hurt, I do try to fill my kids’ Easter baskets with LOTS of things other than candy. I really like to fill Easter baskets with a few things my kids need, a few things they will actually use, and a few things just for fun.

I love an Easter “basket” that can be reused like a cute tote or organizer basket. An inflatable mini pool would also make a great GIANT Easter basket for all your kiddos. (Pro Tip: you can fill the pool with play balls instead of water and viola, indoor activity!)

Something to read

We’re a house full of bookworms and love adding to our collection of books. Easter baskets are a great excuse for snagging a few new bedtime stories. I love board books for my kids too because they hold up so well and we can bring them along to church or the park or wherever we are headed.

Last year I included these activity books. I’m always, ALWAYS searching for ways to keep my big girls entertained (quietly!) at church, and they LOVE the Madeline series.

Something to wear

Summer is coming and we’ll be able to go to the beach, the park, the pool and to play with friends. I love including flip flops and new swimsuits in my girls’ Easter baskets. They even love running through the sprinklers in them.

If it’s not warm where you live yet or you’re looking for something more practical for this moment in time, pajamas or play clothes are another last minute Easter basket idea. Ani and Lyla would also really love these glitter spiral hair ties or these fun headbands.

Something to play

Jump ropes, crayons, markers, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, puzzles. My girls LOVE all of the above plus they all double as great quiet time activities in addition to being a fun Easter treat!

These headphones are inexpensive and come in lots of fun colors if your kids like audiobooks or podcasts like my girls do!

Something to eat

Is it even Easter without a few classic plastic eggs filled with candy? My go-to candies are Reeses and Cadbury eggs of course!
