During the daytime I'm lucky to put a bra on before I run out the door to drop Ani off to school, run a quick errand, feed the baby, eat a piece of toast in between, and work on the blog, so comfort is always my goal when I throw a daytime outfit together! When I have a fun evening planned, though, like a night out with girlfriends or a date with Neil, I want to be able to swap out a few quick elements and feel dressed up! That's exactly what I did with this look from Nordstrom and I was so happy with how it worked out.
I started with these high rise skinny jeans and a structured knit tunic. These are the basics in this outfit that stayed consistent from daytime to evening! These jeans are my current favorites, and I love the amount of stretch they have combined with the high rise. A bazillion people have reviewed these as a favorite too and the minute you slide into these jeans you'll know why too. Thank you Khloe Kardashian for making a jean that fits a woman's curves!
I love a good tunic in the fall. It's an easy way to feel put together and it's so simple to dress up or down, which was exactly what I wanted for this day! The cowl neck and slouchy silhouette just make this one feel so cozy. It's like getting a hug all day long! This color is just 100% autumn, too. Perfect for October and November!
A wool hat is so much fun to wear in the cooler months. It can cover up hair that is on it's last day before shampooing, but it also makes an outfit feel polished and finished! The shape on this one feels so classic (almost vintage!) to me and I love pulling it out when I don't even have 3 seconds for dry shampoo.
These slides are the MOST popular slides at Nordstrom right now and I can totally see why. They strike that magical balance between cute and comfortable and I'm thrilled to have them in my closet for the fall season! They're like the Fall version of a flip flop, a lazy girl's dream shoe. The only thing you have to remember is to go UP a half a size since they run small. I seriously love every single color they come in!
I also added my very favorite go-to tote for errands and beach and gym and travel and just LIFE in general. I've had mine for years and it still looks completely brand new, wipes clean no matter what spills inside it, and is on the shoulder of women from LA to NY every time I visit both of these fashion-forward cities.
To make this look switch easily into an evening date look, I swapped the slides for pumps – an easy quick way to elevate a daytime look! Just like with the slides, these pumps run a little small so you'll want to go up a size for that perfect fit. I feel like the pointy toe and cutout side add a little drama to this heel, and they truly go with everything, and they're actually comfy which isn't easy to find in a pump!
I paired these pumps with a leopard clutch that I've also been pulling out of my closet for years now for special occasions. It's a fun neutral that makes you feel just a little more fancy but is easy enough that you don't have to think twice about whether it matches what you're wearing because the answer is always the same: YES, yes it does.
I also added statement earrings for some drama in the evening! I am loving this tassel trend. It's a super quick way to add color, texture, and fun to an outfit. Pulling my hair back to show off the cowl neck of this sweater and my statement earrings made me feel a little more polished and elegant for nighttime.

This was one of the simplest day-to-night switches I've ever done! It's all about keeping the outfit basics versatile and letting your shoes and accessories do the talking. I loved feeling comfortable all day, then a little fancier for an evening out and about! I'll for sure be relying on variations of this outfit for the future.
