When Neil and I were first married, we participated in a Sub for Santa program at Christmas time. There was a man on the list that needed a size 14.5 shoe and (coming from the wife of a man with a size 13 shoe) I know first hand how HARD it is to find larger shoe sizes in cool styles! DSW was one of the ONLY places that had pairs of shoes in this gentleman's size! Later, Neil actually realized that we knew the person we gave the shoes to after doing some holiday service visits and seeing the man wearing those shoes we gifted him! I will always be grateful to DSW for having exactly what we needed for this service opportunity.
Needless to say, DSW has shoes for the entire family and every season of the year! I love to do a little shoe refresh at the beginning of the cold season so that we can have cozy toes AND cute outfits! In the words of Neil, these shoes are cool “because they are VANS!!” Neil grew up skateboarding so these classic skateboard shoes will always be one of his go-to styles and brands. He loves the cool vibe and that you can wear them with literally everything. If you're going for style and function, these sneakers are timeless.
Koolaburra by UGG
I like to get my girls a pair of UGGs every year! We have officially gone soft from our years in California because we have been known to throw UGGs on at the slightest chill in the air. These Koolaburra by UGGs boots have over 400 ridiculous reviews touting style, comfort, and warmth. These are made a little more affordably than traditional UGGs, but are SO durable. My kids wear them to death every single winter without fail! We always travel with these because you can wear them with anything (even a dress and tights to church!) and are always and forever stylish and cozy.
Marc Fisher Boots
I just love Marc Fisher. It's one of my favorite brands of shoes to buy, but I especially love their boots! These over-the-knee boots are so beautiful, and totally flattering! They are wide-calf, which is amazing for those who need a little more space in their leg area. My calves are pretty average-sized, but the extra width is no issue because with the stretchy tops they are pretty universal. I also like that although the leg is roomier, the shoe portion is structured so that your feet feel 100% supported.
Over-the-knee boots are so elongating and way more versatile than you might think! Wear them with jeans, leggings, or a LBD for a long silhouette that is always chic. Such a fun look for winter!
