and though she be but little, she is FIERCE

i feel deeply humbled to share this message with you all tonight. the girls at ps i adore you (an online pop-up shop) asked me to be their first blogger advocate for their cancer cutie of the month, and i cannot even begin to express how honored i was to agree.

first of all, i have a special connection to the ps i adore you team. chelsea, mom of sweet little cami carver and co-founder of ps i adore you, is a friend of mine from high school. her daughter has been a fierce little fighter in her very long battle with cancer, and i greatly admire the courage, honesty, and vulnerability that chelsea has shown in her blog kisses for cami

second of all, little kiddos with cancer have a special place in my heart too. i've been a volunteer wish granter for the make a wish foundation for many years and worked with lots of kids with really special wishes. my very first wish was a beautiful little girl who had a brain tumor. we keep in touch and years later she is doing wonderfully and i love seeing her updates on social media.

when i read 2 1/2 year old delaney's story – this month's ps i adore you cancer cutie – i couldn't hold back the tears. delaney was diagnosed with a brain tumor on september 10, 2013 and has fought an intense battle with cancer every day since. among some of the unthinkable challenges for this little girl, she's endured brain surgeries, 56 overnight stays at the hospital, 19 days of chemotherapy, and many more to go.

when i try to think about how difficult it would be for me to see my little girl in pain and fighting a life-threatening disease, it's honestly incomprehensible. i remember chelsea (cami's mom) explaining once in a blog post that she had to wear gloves to inject the poison into her baby that was helping kill off her cancer, and i cringed. how terribly difficult this journey must be for the parents, too.

i rarely ask my readers for favors, but this time i'm going to. hospital bills for these kinds of treatments and surgeries are astronomical. far more than we can ever imagine or comprehend. i'm asking anyone with a pair of eyes reading this to donate something. just a little. they are asking for donations of $1, $3, $5, $10, or $25.

donate the amount you would if you went out to lunch with a friend this month. donate the amount you'd spend tomorrow in a drive-thru at starbucks. donate the amount you'd spend on take-out one night this week. or just donate $1. it doesn't have to be huge. but if everyone donates just a little, it will ease the burden of this family in such a huge way.

what if this was your daughter, your baby, or your niece, your grand-daughter? what if.

i believe in you guys. i'm going to help out and i know you will too. you can help delaney by donating here, and you can read her full story here.

  1. Thank you for reminding me about what matters most. Because of Delaney's story, I will hug my two little girls tighter. She (and her family) are an inspiration and I am happy to donate.

  2. Thank you for sharing Delaney’s story on your site. We can’t tell you enough how much it means to see people in our community, and across the world come together to support Delaney and her family in this battle against brain cancer.

    Love, Uncle Travis

    1. Travis, I was so happy to help. Thank you for taking the time to write up that beautiful story for her and please know that she’s in my thoughts and prayers! XOXO

  3. I am not sure how I found your website, somehow when I was searching the lowest price on the blendtec, anyhow I am happy I did and loved this post. My niece also fought this battle with cancer and actually Cami was one of her friends at cancer camp. (Camp Hobe in Tooele) She was so nice to my niece when my niece didnt know anyone. Also loved that you have volunteered at Make a wish, an organization that means a lot to me. Really enjoyed your website and glad you help people find great deals on things. You rock!
