like i said, i'm a long time fan of maxi cosi – they're a top pick for infant car seats on my best baby registry list, and i love their mico AP infant car seat because they've got bragging rights for the lightest infant car seat in its class. the handle is also ergonomically designed for comfy arm carrying. which you do a lot of with an infant! a good price at $199.99.
i'm not as wildly in love with their mico 30 infant car seat, it's more expensive with not that many differences that i can see! an adjustable base with a rebound bar, and a canopy cover that extends farther than the AP, for $249.99.
the top two convertible car seats are 20% off right now too! i'm definitely ordering the maxi cosi pria 70 convertible car seat to replace our current “second” car seat for anabelle. we already own this peg perego convertible car seat and LOVE it, but it is heavy at 25 lbs, so we don't love to travel with it.
i ordered this evenflo convertible car seat for ani to travel with last fall after she turned 2. it was a great buy at only $60, and lightweight at only 9.1 lbs., but anabelle hates this car seat. it's not padded well at all and feels like she's sitting directly on hard plastic. she's never fallen asleep in this car seat, which … hello, if you're a parent, that's a big deal!
the reason i'm STOKED to get this maxi cosi pria 70 convertible seat is it's super comfy and padded, it's supposed to be the easiest EVER to clean (more on that below), and it only weights 10 pounds!! the pria 70 has a forward facing limit of 70 lbs but i think at that point we'll move on to a booster anyway.
the maxi cosi pria 85 is also super plush and does have a weight limit of 85 forward facing. the 85 weighs more as well at 23 pounds – not something i want to lug around the airport! and the 85 is more expensive at $299.99 retail (on sale right now for $239.99).
“the easiest to clean” – more bragging rights from maxi cosi. the fabrics on both the pria 70 and 85 remove with simple snaps and no harness rethreading, are machine washable and dryer safe. we're potty training soon – need i say more?
