Cutest college football tees + how to cut a basic tee to be a cap sleeve

It's one of my very most favorite times of the year – hello COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON! There's something so exciting about the start of fall and all of the festivities, especially when it comes to college football (go Utes!). Whether you're headed to the stadium this season or cheering on your favorite team from home, we scoured the internet for all of the cutest college football outfit ideas and rounded them up for you here. Bring on the crisp weather, yummy food, and you guessed it…football!

Touchdown-worthy trends

When it comes to cheering on my favorite team, and we've known each other for more than a minute, you know I'm a University of Utah fan through and through. I scoured the internet to find something cute and new for this season to celebrate football being back, and found this cute t-shirt!

Not only is this t-shirt super cute, it's also really comfortable and would work perfectly with a pair of leggings OR some cute (according to me – ha) mom jeans. I was super impressed with all of the different styles this Etsy shop offered and seriously love that wearing your favorite team's gear doesn't mean sacrificing a cute outfit!

Cut It!

One of my very top tips to styling a sometimes shapeless, boxy t-shirt is to cut it! Yep, you heard that right, cut it!! Hear me out –

The raw hem detail from cutting a t-shirt is SO cute and allows you to bring it to the length that's most flattering on your body shape. It's also a perfect way to create a more flattering neckline and sleeve length and gives that super trendy slub/burn out look that's so on trend right now!

HOW TO CUT A BASIC TEE INTO A CAP SLEEVE:

Step 1: Lay your tee flat on a table and make sure the shoulder seam is at the top.

Step 2: go about an inch out from the armpit, and cut in a diagonal direction toward the top of the sleeve (creating a cap sleeve).

Step 3: use the leftover scrap from the first sleeve to make your “pattern” on the second sleeve, to make sure they turn out the same!

Step 4: pick up the tee and fold it so that half of the front and half of the back is facing up, and make sure it's folded evenly so you can cut the neckline perfectly. Next, angle downward slightly (not too much!) to get a little bit of a scoop neck in the front, and then cut just below the hem in the back to get a nice even raw hem on the back.

Step 5: lastly, cut just above the bottom hem of the tee to get a nice raw hem edge at the bottom. Stretch out that raw hem (and all the others) to create a little bit of a curling effect, and you're done!
