8 ways to style Nordstrom’s most popular little black dress

If there was ONE statement piece I could place in your closet right now, it would be this little black dress. Not “a” little black dress, THIS one in particular! This LBD is a super popular, top-rated dress at Nordstrom, and it’s been one of my faves for a LONG time. Nordstrom has continued to carry it for years and years because it’s ALWAYS a best selling item. Always. Styles and trends change, but this LBD has stayed a staple through it all.

I’ve owned this dress in tons of different colors, but black has been the MOST versatile for sure. It can literally be worn for any occasion (even while you’re pregnant!), which makes it a life-saving clothing item. It’s old reliable, in the best way.

Let’s talk about the LBD first

Before we talk about ways you can style this dress, you have to know more about the base – the dress itself. There are tons and tons of reasons this is a best selling, top-rated, super-popular item at Nordstrom year after year.

First of all, it really looks so flattering on every. single. body type. Especially in the black. No matter what your shape or size is, I promise you are going to love this dress!

The side is ruched which lends to a really nice shape on everybody (even baby bumps!). It’s truly the most universal piece at Nordstrom in my opinion. And I shop a LOT of Nordstrom!

Second, it has over 300 reviews with the majority being either four or five stars. There are so many other women (not just me!) who LOVE this dress. This outfit is super simple and effortless, but one of my absolute faves and go-to’s in the warmer months. When you have an outfit that looks super put together, without having to put in hardly any effort at all, you know it’s worth investing in. I love that you totally get that with this little black dress & plaid shirt duo!

Adding the boyfriend plaid shirt to this LBD is such an easy way to make a really cute outfit. This plaid shirt in particular is super highly rated, under $50, and such a great statement piece for tons of different styles throughout the year. I wear this plaid ALL the time, in all different kinds of ways!

In the summer, I love to tie it around my waist and add it as a cute accessory to my little black dress. It gives the dress a whole new vibe that’s perfect for running errands, taking my kids to the park, or wearing on a casual lunch date.

I always make sure to tie the shirt around the smallest part of my waist for the most flattering look. After that, all you have to do is throw on some flat summer sandals, and add your favorite on-the-go bag. Then you’re ready for a day of running around town while feeling cute and confident at the same time!

There are certain times you’ll need the LBD to look more dressy. (Work, dinner date, church, etc.). With just a few added pieces you can totally transform this dress from super casual to dressy or professional!

I love how easy it is to dress this LBD up. All I had to do was throw on this green Treasure & Bond jacket (under $100!!), and add some Valentino sandals to give it a little extra umph.

I thought it turned out so cute, and I put in pretty much the same amount of effort as I did with the casual plaid shirt outfit above. I mean it when I say it’s SO EASY to get the vibe you want out of this dress, no matter what that is! Dressy or casual, you’re out the door QUICK and feeling on top of your game.

Style #3: for when you want to be trendy

Okay, this western-themed LBD ensemble has to be one of my very favorites for multiple reasons!

1) Denim is a HUGE trend right now (like, the more denim the better. Hello major flashback to Britney & Justin!). This cropped denim jacket is nostalgia all wrapped up in the most flattering way and I am here. for. it. I will be wearing this out all summer long and I am NOT mad about it!!

2) Summer is the BEST time for date nights & girls nights out on the town, country dancing, rodeos, county fairs… And I think this trendy summer outfit is absolutely perfect for ALL of those things!

3) Can we. just. discuss. these calf hair cowboy boots. I’m dying over them!! Not only are they super cute, but they are actually super comfy, too! If you were to wear these on one of those summer nights out, you would be totally comfortable the whole time.

This is a laid back style for the little black dress that I absolutely LOVE – but it actually has some secrets to it!

That puff sleeve crop you see there? Not actually a crop! It’s (secretly) a full-length puff sleeve sweatshirt. If you head to my Instagram Stories today, you’ll see that I actually just folded the sweatshirt up into my bra line to create the illusion of a crop top with a skirt. A super easy trick for a super cute outfit that’s cozy, too!

I love working from home in this outfit, and I especially love pairing my pink blue light blocking glasses with it because there’s something about matching accessories with your outfit that just makes you feel like a boss babe – am I right?
