Help me decide: what outfit to wear on Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving is just TWO weeks away and ICYMI, I'm hosting this year. For the first time EVER. Typically Thanksgiving dinner is an event (yes, eating in this case is an event) that I love to wear something nice for. Even in 2020, the weirdest year ever, despite all the staying home and staying, in I knew sweats were off the Thanksgiving table for me.

However, since I was hosting I knew that I would probably want to wear jeans and a nicer top versus a dress. This way I can throw on an apron while I'm whipping up dinner and whip it off right before we sit down to eat. Before you ‘@ me' over wearing jeans on Thanksgiving, I should tell you that these jeans are holiday magic and are legit almost leggings comfortable.

I put together TWO Thanksgiving dinner looks from Nordstrom showcasing these pants (magic pants) and I need your help choosing which one to wear on the BIG day!

Look One: Cornucopia of Color

Ruffle top

Ruffles are back in the spotlight and totally trending again this year. This gorgeous ruffle 3/4 sleeve lightweight blouse is dishing up all the fall, Thanksgiving feels with these colors. The lace detailing on the yoke is also such a pretty feminine touch that I love.

I am tall (5'10”) with long arms, so it is important to note that the sleeve length might be a 5/6 length versus a 3/4. However, if you like the 3/4 look, this top has elastic cuffs so the sleeves could easily be pushed up and worn shorter. The rest of the fit is TTS.

High waist skinny jeans

These are my NEW favorite jeans. Neil has loved his AG jeans for like ever because they're soft and comfortable, and I have no idea why I never thought to try them myself!

Girlfriend. They are so comfortable and just so dreamy. This jean feels like it was made to be worn ALL day. Plus it has a lot of stretch to it. Combine those two factors and you basically have the ideal Thanksgiving jean.

It is a high-waisted skinny so the fit is super flattering, but because of the stretch, you'll want to size down one size if you are between sizes. This is a skinny that is skinny all the way down to the ankle, so it's a great jean to pair with a bootie or wear with tall or OTK boots. Trust me when I say this highly rated skinny jean is worth your pennies and they are the perfect jean to pair with your Thanksgiving outfit.

Tan booties

You may remember this bootie from my fall styling tips post. I tried on literally every pair of tan booties at Nordstrom and these were far and away the clear winner. They paired so perfectly with the rusts, tans, and golds in the top and the dark wash of the jeans.

Don't be scared off by the stiletto look, because these booties are crazy comfortable. I mean, I'll still probably be cooking barefoot or in slippers, but they'll look so cute in a family Thanksgiving picture and be comfortable enough to keep on while we eat.

Look Two: Black Beauty

Button down blouse

It was love at first sight for me and this button-down black blouse. I saw its hanging and immediately thought, “I bet that will be really pretty on,” and it was even more beautiful on than I had envisioned. This is the type of top guaranteed to make you feel really pretty and just feels a little more dressy than the top from the first look. If you want to feel dressed up without wearing a dress, THIS flared cuff blouse is the perfect top for your Thanksgiving outfit.

Black is such a classic color choice that this blouse would also look nice paired with my favorite faux leather leggings or a pretty black (or red) skirt. This top is more of an investment piece, however, this is a top you'll have (and wear) year-round and for YEARS to come.

Pointy toe booty

Have you ever seen such a sleek and striking black bootie? The second I tried them I was totally head over heels! Thanks to the block heel, this is a super comfortable bootie, but the pointy-toe silhouette makes them so fun. This is such a beautiful boot with a true to size fit that perfectly pulled together my nicer Thanksgiving look.

High waist skinny jeans

I wore the exact same skinnies for both looks, because as I mentioned above: they are the PERFECT Thanksgiving pant. I am absolutely obsessed with these jeans.
